Performance Report on Smartpour: Case Studies

摘要

This paper describes the development and application of an infrared (IR) temperature measuring system, named Smartpour, which has been designed to continuously monitor foundry pour- ing temperatures on production casting lines. This type of measurement, by IR instruments, is particularly difficult because of the rapid variations of the target tempera- ture, due to the nature of the operation, and also heat reflections from adjacent points, causing contamination of the readings. Other problems are related to the siting of the instrument to obviate potential equipment damage.
