Energy Saving in Cast Iron Melting by Medium-frequency Furnace

摘要

Usually cupolas and line-frequency furnaces are commonly used for cast iron melting. By considering the characteristics of each type of furnaces, production requirements and type of charging materials, the most suitable melting equipment is selected. When high flexibility is required in manufacturing process, line-frequency furnace has been selected usually. In case of small size of furnaces, high-frequency furnaces have been used often today. And alternative to medium size of line-frequency furnaces will be medium-frequency furnaces. Then we investigated the performance characteristics of a medium-frequency furnace, we developed the computer controlled operating system to accomplish the best operating conditions, and we have achieved the energy saving by reducing the number of furnaces in operation.
