Development of Partial Mono Form Instrument Panel

摘要

Although the soft pad instrument panel is used on some mid-class models (CORONA and HILUX), the old instrument panel required the soft polypropylene (PP) pad to be assembled on it. Despite the fact that the quality was good, the process was complicated and productivity poor. In order to improve both productivity and quality, we developed the Partial Mono Form Process in which the foam urethane material is poured directly between the PP substrate and the skin. This paper reports on the technologies developed to prevent leakage of the urethane during this process, and ensure adhesion between the PP substrate and the urethane.
