Resilient planning journals in challenging times

Among the innovations at the AESOP/ACSP Joint Congress held from 15 to 19 July 2013 in Dublin, Ireland, was the organisation of an 'Editors' Forum' where editors of well-known journals in planning could meet face-to-face, both with each other and with members of the scholarly planning community to freely discuss leading aspects of the contemporary issues faced by planning journals. The Editors' Forum was chaired by Louis Albrechts, Editor of European Planning Studies; five other editors from planning journals made up the rest of the panel, including Michael Gunder (Planning Theory), Peter Batey (Town Planning Review), Subhrajit Guhathakurta (Journal of Planning Education and Research), Yvonne Rydin (Progress in Planning), and the author of these 'Notes', Judith Clifton (Journal of Economic Policy Reform).
