Eighty years ago, in one of his reports on Indian cities, Patrick Geddes remarked that, first, 'the essential need of a house and family is room' and that, secondly, 'the essential improvement of a house and family is more room'. The Indian architect/planner Charles Corea stresses the same truth in a new book about his 40 years of house design.
