Can you believe that Brexit is hardly ever mentioned here in France? In the UK it is the top story, all day, every day, but other EU countries have their own preoccupations. In Italy it's immigrants - the few that landed in Kent recently would be far too few to mention. In Spain it is Catalonian independence, with Madrid presumably biding its time on Gibraltar. Here in the Corbieres mountains, the cold wind whistles over the landscape, bending the mopheaded Mediterranean pines until they creak, and the locals devote themselves to the serious business of shooting everything that moves in the garrigue and the pressing business of pruning their vines.
