Frankfurt S-Bahn reaches Gateway Gardens as tram-train plans advance

After more than two years construction the new underground Gateway Gardens station just east of Frankfurt Airport on the line to Frankfurt Flughafen Regionalbahnhof opened on 15 December 2019. Basic construction was completed in April 2019 and following initial tracklaying and electrification the existing line (Line 3683) between the Mainz-Frankfurt Stadion line and the Flughafen Regionalbahnhof closed for good on 25 October 2019. Between 26 October and 14 December S-Bahn services were diverted via to run via the ICE Fernbahnhof and connecting lines.
