In the aftermath of the fraud committed by former NS subsidiary Qbuzz in acquiring the contract for the regional train services in province Limburg, NS decided in March 2016 to concentrate on its main line services and announced that it would not participate in tenders issued by the provinces for regional service contracts. This decision has now been reversed, the NS board announcing that it will participate in future tenders. After the Dordrecht-Geldermalsen Betuwe ring line currently operated by Arriva (see separate story) the next route due to be tendered is the Valleilijn Amersfoort-Ede-Wageningen service currently operated by ConneXXion/Keolis.
