Alstom delivered the first of 19 new Citadis X05 LRVs to Nice on 9 February. The 44 metre vehicles will operate the new Line 2 which will connect the airport to the city centre. The new 11.3 km route has 20 stops, four of which are in the 3.3 km underground section. Apart from the tunnel section which has overhead catenary the route uses Alstom's new SRS static charging system which recharges the trams during stops. The trams are fitted with roof mounted super-capacitors, branded "Eco Packs" by Alstom.
