Lund (population 83 000), in conjunction with local transport authority Skanetrafiken, placed an order in early June with Spanish company CAF for the supply of seven 32 metre Urbos 100 low-floor trams for its 5.5 km line, with nine stops. Construction of the line between the Central station and Lund's science village/university hospital is well advanced and inauguration is expected in 2019; a future expansion to a new residential area at Brunnshoeg is also in the planning stage, but no decision taken. CAF will also be responsible for the first ten years' maintenance of the trams with an option for a further three.
