The business case for apprentices remains compelling, reflected in the 80% of firms in transport and distribution who already have some level of investment in an apprenticeship programme, according to the CBI. If any further evidence were needed, the Government has laid out the commercial benefits in a series of research reports with the Centre for Economics and Business Research (CEBR) in recent years. In 2014, the CEBR stated that apprentices contributed £34bn to the UK economy each year. In 2015, the respected think-tank found that consumers would look favourably on UK businesses that employ apprentices, and even consider paying more for goods and services from them to the tune of £18bn a year.
