The general improvement trends observed for the machinery of the weaving preparation sector exhibited at ITMA 99 were aimed at the reduction of machine stoppage time and at the production of short runs more specifically in sectional warping machines; the latter are positioned between the large production warping machines and the machines for the production of samples. The machinery manufacturers have focused generally on an increased flexibility and a wide use of automation for the regulation and diagnosis of the machines as well as for carrying out the more tedious tasks. Significant progress was also noted in the area of knotting.%Regroupements de sociétés renommées, comme Benninger et Moennus, ou Rotal et Karl Mayer, flexibilité et automatisation des machines, notamment en ourdissage sectionnel, compromis entre échantillonnages et petites séries... la dynamique de l'ITMA a fortement profité au secteur de la préparation tissage.
