The filtration of liquids containing solid particles very often calls upon woven or nonwoven technical textiles. The particles are stopped by the fibres by direct impact or by the action of various forces that capture and retain them. There are two types of filtration methods: surface filtration, the particles forming then a cake that determines the filter's efficiency, and in-depth filtration, within the textile layers. The needled products, through successive filtrations in the textile depth, achieve a very good separation, with low pressure drops in the filter.%La majeure partie des textiles techniques, tissés et nontissés, est employée pour assurer une fonction de filtration.
