As I sit down to the daunting task of drafting my first editorial for The Structural Engineer, I find myself musing on the theme of change. As well as 2014 having been very much a year of change for me personally, the turn of the year has also been marked by a great deal of change at the Institution. In December, the Institution completed its move to its new International HQ in Bastwick Street, London. This was followed by a flurry of activity as staff settled in and contractors applied the finishing touches to the premises. As 2014 President, Nick Russell, explains on page 6, by the time you read this the new HQ will be open for business and welcoming members. I hope many of you will have the opportunity to visit the Institution over the course of 2015.
