From 19-21 June, snack industry professionals from the world over made their way to Berlin for the 11th Savoury Snacks trade show & conference. 1,800 industry professionals flocked to the event -up 15% on 2003 - and they weren't disappointed with what they found. Ian Newton, operations director at Seabrook Crisps in the UK, described SNACKEX as 'excellent'. For him, much of the show's appeal lay in its tightly defined focus: "Some of the bigger shows are too diverse, whereas this is very much concentrated on snacks," he said. This view was echoed by Dean Ulven, from Dutch ingredient supplier Fromatech. "The size of the show allowed everybody time to visit you. Customers that we hoped to meet, expected to meet and didn't expect to meet all stopped by." Graham Clements, managing director of Ishida, described SNACKEX as a 'good networking forum' which provided the opportunity to clinch orders they had been working on prior to the show.
