Bio-fuel to mop up oil surpluses?

Big supplies of cooking oil are on the way - especially soya. But cheaper prices may be stalled by fast growth in demand too, not only for food but from a resurgent bio-fuel sector. rnVegetable oil prices have been fairly volatile in the first quarter of 2010, buffeted by crosswinds from several directions. Huge soyabean and rapeseed oil supplies are still on track for the current season and probably for 2010/11 too (starting October), promising price restraint across the cooking oil sector. Palm oil production has not fallen as much as some pessimists feared during the winter months. And despite smaller crops in South America and the former Soviet countries, sunflower oil supplies have been adequate to keep prices of this 'premium' oil fairly stable.
