Commission adopts regulation to implement rules on generic descriptors

The new Commission Regulation 907/2013 on the use of generic descriptors http:lleur-lex.europa.eu/LexUhServl LexUriServ.do?uri=O]:L20l3:25l:0007:0009:EN:PDF sets out the rules for the use of generic descriptors in labelling food or drink products in the European Union. In order to be able to use a generic descriptor; a food business operator or a sector trade association needs to submit an application for authorisation to a competent authority in the Member State. The information required is laid down in Part B of the Annex to the Regulation.
