The defence review was never going to please everyone, but you can reasonably ask the question: has it pleased anyone? Voices in support of its conclusions have been few and far between. Some of this has been inevitable, and even understandable, self-interest as the three services conducted their own asymmetric warfare to protect their budgets, their capabilities and their influence.
