First North Western shows off 'Coradia'

BY February 4, five of the two-car Class 175/0 'Coradia' units currently on order by First North Western from Alstom had been delivered to the new shed at Chester. The £70m Coradia order was awarded to Alstom on July 29, 1997. For the first time railway journalists were shown over these new, hi-spec 100mph diesel units which will progressively take over the FNW Birmingham-Holyhead, Manchester-Blackpool/ Barrow and Oxenholme-Windermere services from the May timetable change.
