With its six power cars now the only Paxman Valenta-powered HSTs in front-line passenger service, open access operator Grand Central is considering re-engining with the highly-respectedrnMTU4000R41R unit. Network Rail is currently converting its own power cars to MTUs, and National Express East Coast, Crosscountry and First Great Western already use MTU units. East Midlands Trains uses the more recent Paxman VP185 power units.
