The articulated (4) motor coach has the power unit (1) and a driven axle (10) arranged in the trailing part of the vehicle. A propeller shaft (3) connects this axle (10) to the central axle (6) which is arranged in the leading part of the vehicle. A gear box (11) on the driven axle permits the drive to one of the axles, preferably to the driven axle, to be disconnected. The gear box may comprise two couplings which are switchable to either connect the two axles (10,6) via a differential, or directly, or only connect the axle (6) to drive. The couplings may be switchable in response to vehicle speed or axle (6) load.
