Grand Central unveils the first of its 'Adelantes'

East Coast open access operator Grand Central has taken delivery of the first of the two Class 180 'Adelante' DEMUs it is to use on London-Sunderland services.rnIt has painted the 125mph set, No. 180112, in a striking gloss black livery with broad orange stripe, which appears to draw heavily on American railroad imagery, in keeping with the operator's 'Grand Central' title.rnThe 'Adelantes' will complement GC's three HST sets in readiness for the addition of a fourth Sunderland-King's Cross service in August. A test run was staged on July 25 - and four days later, a press preview was held. On arrival atrnKing's Cross, the unit was named James Herriot after the late vet and author, whose museum is in Thirsk, North Yorks.
