November 14 saw the start of the new Government-controlled ECML franchise at the end of National Express's reign. Class 91 No. 91113 was observed at Wakefield Westgate on the 08.10 King's Cross-Leeds, carrying the new East Coast branding. The National Express lettering had been removed from most Mk 4 sets over the weekend of November 7-8. The HST fleet was similarly treated during the following week with the East Coast branding being applied in its place.
