If inflation continues to rise - the April figure of 3.7 per cent was the highest for 17 months - fares could rise by 4.7 per cent next winter.rnIn 2010, regulated fares fell by a very small margin or remained static because they were based on the retail price index plus one per cent, and the RPI was minus 1.4 per cent.
