Steam to End in Cuba

Since the end of steam in Britain, and eventually the rest of Europe, one of the finest destinations to sample real steam has been the paradise Caribbean island of Cuba. Steam has managed to hang on in the once plentiful sugar plantations and mills. In 2005 it was thought that the use of steam on real trains had come to an end, however in the last few years the sugar cane season has seen a few mills again using steam traction to haul the crop in from the fields. There are still several hundred locomotives in existence with maybe a dozen steamable.
