THE reincarnation of Eastleigh Works is an all-too-rare example of good news where former British Rail heavy engineering plants are concerned - and a glowing testimonial to the power of private enterprise. The many thousands of Railway Magazine readers who visited the Hampshire plant in May 2009 will recall that our open weekend was staged in conjunction with Bruce Knights, whose Knights Rail Services (KRS) had taken over the site for the storage and maintenance of numerous items of rolling stock.
