The emergence of BR Standard No.70000 Britannia in black livery has created a surprising wave of interest. Although the vast majority of people remember the loco in BR green, it was turned out for an extremely brief time in black without nameplates when brand new.The decision to re-paint it is a way of marking the 60th anniversary of the class. Owned by Jeremy Hosking, it has been overhauled at Crewe Heritage Centre and on March 16 completed a loaded test run between Crewe and Bristol (as part of a move to the West Somerset Railway), which has heralded its return to the main line. It's not been confirmed if and when the loco will return to its normal livery.
