First ERTMS Charter?

The new European Rail Traffic Management System went live in late-March (see Headline News), bringing an abrupt halt to steam charters on the Cambrian lines. Network Rail has modified and reliveried a number of former Class 37 diesels, reclassified as Class 97s, to operate on the route. They may well be pressed into passenger service for the first time on May 28 when two West Coast Class 47s have been booked on the 'Aberystwyth and the Dovey Valley' Railtourer charter from Hull, Leeds and Crewe.
