I offer my wholehearted support to your comments (Nov issue) concerning the use of 'trendy' language on the railway. Here is my own pet hate: 'International', as in St Pancras International. When I go to Paris, I arrive at the Gard du Nord, not 'Paris International', likewise Brussel Midi/Zuid, not 'Brussels International'. When I leave Berlin on the international train to Holland, I depart from Berlin Hauptbahnhof and arrive in Amsterdam Centraal. The matter is made worse by the fact that at Stratford International, not one international train calls in either direction. At Ebbsfleet International, very few trains call and those that do are poorly patronised, while at Ashford International, where the public would love them to call, hardly any do.
