HS1 and HS2 will be physically joined

The 'will it, won't it?' saga of High Speed 2 has finally been resolved with a Government decision to physically link the projected new line with the existing High Speed 1. Under the previous Labour Government, one of the plans was to provide HS2 with its own terminus at Euston with no physical connection, but now joined-up thinking has won the day and a way has been found to enable through running from Paris to the North-West of England by linking the lines in the Old Oak Common area.
