Four visitors for GCR winter gala

The Great Central Railway has signed four visiting locomotives for its January 28-30 Winter Gala. GWR 2-8-0 No. 3850 will become the first GWR 2-8-0 to run on the GCR's double track (see story on p57) and, being in BR black, can expect an appearance at the head of the GCR's 'Windcutter' mineral wagons. A second GWR visitor will be the South Devon Railway's Prairie No. 5526, which left Buckfastleigh on December 17 and returns on February 10. The GCR plans to hire an auto coach (not one of the SDR's pair) and to work the GCR's first auto train. The remaining two guests are 'Jubilee' No. 5690 Leander and K4 No. 61994 The Great Marquess, at the GCR since October and making its final appearances at the line.
