The Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway will open its two-mile extension from Toddington to Laverton in April. The northern extension is progressing concurrent with repairs to the landslip at Gotherington with the run-round loop at Laverton being laid during December. In mid-December, repairs to the collapsed embankment, which severed the G-WR near Gotherington last April, were a month ahead of schedule and June 4 was set for public reopening through to Cheltenham. With the Laverton extension open by then, this means the G-WR will be a 12-mile railway-longer than before the landslip. The Emergency Appeal fund has reached £180,000 and two volunteers offered low interest loans, which enabled the G-WR to confirm repair contracts.
