Spitfire's fifth 'Cumbrian Crusader'

Spitfire Railtours is offering a winter treat for diesel fans on February 19. The'Cumbrian Crusader V has requested haulage from across the DRS fleet, including Classes 20,37,57 and 66. The train departs Birmingham International and is routed via Sheffield-Settle-Carlisle-Newcastle-Birmingham International, using various combinations of top-and-tailed traction. The highlight is probably when the Class 20s take charge at Sheffield from the Class 57, which starts the tour, for the run over the Settle & Carlisle to Carlisle. After a short break, a Class 66 takes charge to Newcastle, where two Class 37s lead on the East Coast Main Line to just south of York.
