City of Truro contributes to record GCR(N) Christmas

Snow delayed the arrival of the NRM's No. 3717 City of Truro at the Nottingham Transport Heritage Centre until December 3 - the day before the Great Central Railway (Nottingham)'s first'Santa'trains. Volunteers battled to clear Ruddington Fields platform and other public areas only to repeat the task on the morning of December 4 after more overnight snow. Valiant efforts saw the first train away just 25 minutes late -see picture on page 53. Despite the dreadful weather, 'Santa'bookings poured in andwith two weekends still to run, the total had passed the previous year's and a record Christmas was anticipated.
