LBR to reveal mystery'Hooded Locomotive Engine'

Leighton Buzzard Railway will unveil something not witnessed since 1888 - and which nobody today realised had existed - at its Great Slate Quarry Fest on September 15-16. LBR icon, De Winton 0-4-OVBT Chaloner, was built in 1877 for the Pen-y-Bryn quarry. When that Nantlle operation collapsed in 1888 the auction catalogue included a'hooded locomotive steam engine'. Even the Industrial Railway Society referred to this as not being understood.
