Newly wheeled 'Patriot' for Dorset festival-three cylinders ready for fitting

The LMS-Patriot Project's new-build 'Patriot' No. 45551 The Unknown Warrior was finally wheeled- with proper axleboxes- in late June. The temporary arrangement for its appearance (as an 0-6-0) at Birmingham's NEC last November involved wooden 'boxes' (RM Jan). In addition to machining and fitting the axleboxes, and reuniting the frames with the six driving wheels, Tyseley Locomotive Works also turned and balanced No. 45551's wheels. The wheeled frames were displayed at the July 5-6 Tyseley Locomotive Works Open Weekend, then transported back to Llangollen. The chassis arrived on July 12, in time for further display at the project's July 19 members'day.
