As hinted at in the June issue last year and again in this year's March edition, I have been considering retiring from the editorship for some time. With this issue, I complete a record-breaking 21 years in the hotseat, which makes me the longest-serving editor in Railway Magazine history and I therefore think it's a good time to call it a day. Sales, subscriptions and advertising are growing and bucking not only the downward trend in the magazine industry but the demographic 'timebomb' mentioned above.
