Backing for Dawlish alternative route

Even though a report into several alternative rail routes that would avoid Dawlish decided that all were poor value for money, Network Rail has received Government approval to look further at the options. Following the storms of February 5, 2014, which ripped several holes in the line between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth and took eight weeks to repair, MPs from Devon and Cornwall, along with chambers of commerce, business leaders and stakeholders are unhappy that the line remains at risk of further damage with no alternative routing.
