The method involves receiving real-time images of route sections from cameras (K1-K8) along routes (R1, R2), which are deposited in a navigation system. The two alternative routes are computed by the navigation system. The routes are displayed to a driver of a motor vehicle (4) for selection. The images of the route sections of the two alternative routes are displayed in a corresponding sequence. Positions of cameras (K1-K8) at the route sections are marked on a map (2), which is represented on a display device.
