ON January 5 this year I bought an off-peak return ticket with a senior railcard from Redditch to Burton-up-on-Trent, returning two days later, costing £12.85. Then last month I went to buy a similar ticket only to find that returns are no longer available for this journey. Instead I was quoted for two single tickets, costing £11.30 each way.
