Threlkeld's July 30-31 quarry event is not specifically themed, but organiser Martyn Ashworth and Threlkeld's Ian Hartland have signed a fascinating loco guest list. Visitors joining resident Bagnall 0-4-OST Sir Tom comprise Statfold Barn Railway's newly restored Hudwell, Clarke 'P' class 1172/1922 Alpha together with Hudswell, Clarke 0-6-0WT 1643/1930 Surrey County Council No. GP39 (formally Bronllwyd), Beamish's newly commissioned replica Lewin 0-4-0T Samson, Phil Mason's Kerr, Stuart'Sirdar' class 0-4-0T Diana (restoration completed late last year), and West Lancashire Railway's Kerr, Stuart 'Joff re' 0-6-0T+WT Joffre (2405/1915). More track has been laid in the quarry area and middle level, together with progression of the passenger line extension towards the weighbridge at the base level. A steam navvy is likely to be operating at the middle level. There will also be a photo charter day on July 29.
