The 762 Club unveiled the assembled frames for its re-creation of 2ft-gauge Lynton & Barnstaple Railway Baldwin 2-6-2T Lyn at Alan Keef Ltd on November 28. The cast bed (bar frame) construction of the original Lyn has been replicated in 80mm steel plate, with holes cut by water jet then machined. Steel tube and plate completes the structure. Lyn is believed to be the UK's first new-build project replicating this form of typically American manufacture, which contrasts with plate main frames generally employed by British locomotive builders. Ironically, the chassis'of two original Baldwin 4-6-OT cast bed-framed locos were also on Keef's site-WDLR No.778 (present for overhaul) and WDLR No. 794 (restoration project for the Welsh Highland Heritage Railway).
