THERE is still no indication when South West Trains' five-car Class 707 EMUs will be introduced into traffic. Ten of the sets have been delivered to SWT and are being used for driver training and mileage accumulation trips out of Wimbledon depot. However, delivery of the remaining trains has temporarily stopped, the last sets to arrive from Germany being 707009/010 on April 8. The units are being financed by Porterbrook and were originally slated for introduction on April 18, a date later revised to June. As we closed for press there was still no indication when passenger service would begin. Vehicles of the remaining 20 units are believed to be in store at Siemens' Wildenrath test centre in Germany.
