ON March 3 the first test train operated on the new line being built connecting Azerbaijan and Iran across the 82.5metre-long bridge over the River Astarachay border. Construction was approved in December 2015 and work began in April 2016. The bridge and an 8.3km-long, 1520mm-gauge line within Azerbaijan, connecting it to the rest of the country's rail network, has been built.
