A BRIDGE that carries the Limerick Jet to Waterford line over the N24 at Carrick-on-Suir has been replaced by larnród Éireann-lrish Rail (IÉ-IR) after being struck 41 times since 2009. The girder bridge dated from 1931 and had a clearance of 4.54m. It had been fitted with collision protection beams in 2007 owing to the number of bridge strikes, but IÉ-IR ultimately opted to replace the ageing structure.
