THE Leighton Buzzard Railway (LBR) celebrated 100 years of unbroken operation on November 17, the nearest Sunday to the anniversary of the November 20,1919, opening of the Bedfordshire line. Guests included Lord Faulkner of Worcester, President of the Heritage Railway Association, and representatives from APPEVA, which operates the Froissy-Cappy-Dompierre line, twinned with LBR. The French visitors presented an original First World War light railway steel sleeper, mounted on a display board, to LBR to mark the occasion.
