TWO steam locomotives that previously called the West Somerset Railway (WSR) home have now left the line pending a return to steam at their respective new operational bases. Ex-LMS Fowler '4F' No. 44422 and GWR '56XX' 0-6-2T No. 6695 were both subject of 25-year hire contracts with the WSR. However, the precarious financial situation the railway found itself in slightly more than a year ago resulted in these contracts being aborted, with the railway needing to concentrate resources on its own issues, rather than items owned by third parties.
