REMEMBERING A VICTORIA CROSS RECIPIENT WHO FELL ON HARD TIMES

In recognition of Remembrance Day, we thought we'd close this issue by remembering the only member of the RCMP to be awarded the prestigious Victoria Cross while serving in uniform. Over the RCMP's illustrious history three veterans of the Force have been awarded the Victoria Cross, which is the highest medal a Canadian can receive for "bravery in action." S/M Arthur Herbert Lindsay "Tappy" Richardson, Reg. No. 3058, was born in Liverpool, England, in 1873 and immigrated to Canada in 1894. His service file indicates that he had been a dentist in England prior to moving to Canada.
