Preparing Recruits for Success

Their solution? The Recruit Mentoring Academy (RMA). The RMA is a creative initiative that has evolved into an essential recruiting strategy for EPS. For 10 weeks, the RMA identifies, coaches, and mentors police applicants through fitness challenges, interviews, presentations, and active listening scenarios as well as numerous self-reflective and team-building workshops. The topics that are presented and discussed include ethics in policing, concepts of active listening, effective presentations, and mental resiliency-all with the overall goal to prepare participants for what they will encounter in the application process and, should they be successful, in recruit training.
