County's wastewater plans unveiled

Two "watershed" moments passed in Barnstable County with the presentation of final wastewater planning recommendations and the launch of a Web site dedicated to the Regional Wastewater Management plan. Both were announced at the January 2, 2013 county commissioners' meeting. The recommendations from the executive directors of the Cape Cod Commission and Cape Cod Water Protection Collaborative were developed over the past 10 months to weigh the appropriate role and options for the county in managing the Cape's wastewater. The focus on watersheds, rather than on towns, recognizes that most of the Cape's coastal embayments are shared by towns, requiring a cross-border approach to their management.
